Yes. The Roof Single Leaf Vent | Polycarbonate is available with either a Rockwool-insulated aluminium collar (RSL) or a PVC base construction (RSL-R). The RSL offers enhanced thermal performance and A1-rated construction, while the RSL-R provides a cost-effective alternative for a wide range of smoke ventilation applications.
Yes. A bespoke wind deflector can be specified to increase the aerodynamic free area where required.
Yes. Sertus polycarbonate lids are manufactured from virtually unbreakable polycarbonate and are tested in accordance with the ACR(M) Red Book and BS EN 1873. Whilst classified as non-fragile when tested, they are not “man-safe” and should not be deliberately walked on.
Yes. An opening limiter can be fitted where required. However, restricting the opening below 140° may affect compliance with BS EN 12101-2.
Yes. All polycarbonate lids feature a double-skin construction as standard, helping deliver improved thermal performance.
Yes. The actuator can be specified on either the left- or right-hand side to suit the project requirements.
The top of the roof vent upstand should be a minimum of 300mm above the finished roof surface.
Yes. The Roof Single Leaf Vent can be installed on roof pitches of up to 20°.
We do not recommend installing permanent ladders adjacent to roof vents, as they may reduce the aerodynamic free area and affect smoke ventilation performance.
Where roof vents are installed in areas with regular roof access or foot traffic, appropriate edge protection or fall protection measures should be considered in accordance with the project's safety strategy.
The Roof Single Leaf Vent is designed to be low maintenance. Routine maintenance typically consists of periodic inspections and cleaning using warm soapy water.
Routine servicing of the smoke control system, including control panels and call points, is typically carried out from within the building. Some maintenance tasks on the roof vent itself may require roof access.
Yes. If the actuator requires replacement, it can typically be accessed and replaced from the roof without entering the building.
Yes. Sertus Roof Single Leaf Vents are CE marked in accordance with BS EN 12101-2, the harmonised European standard for natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators.
Yes. The Roof Single Leaf Vent is classified BRoof (T4) for external fire performance.
No. Natural smoke vents are designed to extract smoke and heat from a building and are tested to BS EN 12101-2. Unlike smoke control dampers, they are not intended to provide compartmentation and therefore do not require a fire resistance classification.
